وَإِذَا تُتۡلَىٰ عَلَيۡهِ ءَايَٰتُنَا وَلَّىٰ مُسۡتَكۡبِرٗا كَأَن لَّمۡ يَسۡمَعۡهَا كَأَنَّ فِيٓ أُذُنَيۡهِ وَقۡرٗاۖ فَبَشِّرۡهُ بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ ٧

Dr. Mustafa Khattab, the Clear Quran:

Whenever Our revelations are recited to them, they turn away in arrogance as if they did not hear them, as if there is deafness in their ears. So give them good news ˹O Prophet˺ of a painful punishment.

Muhammad Taqi-ud-Din al-Hilali & Muhammad Muhsin Khan:

And when Our Verses (of the Qur’ân) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride,¹ as if he heard them not - as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment.
